Baked with simple ingredients.
Shared with joy.
Simply Joy Bread Co. was born around our family table from a desire to feed our children clean, honest bread free of enriched flours, soy, and preservatives. What began as a mother’s search for nourishing food grew into a deep love for the craft and patience of sourdough fermentation. Every loaf is made by hand in our home right here in Rockford, Michigan—rooted in pure ingredients, time, and the joy of sharing wholesome food with our neighbors.
Meet Shelby
My desire for cleaner eating began years ago, rocking my babies to sleep in the quiet hours of early motherhood. As I started researching what was actually inside everyday pantry staples, my eyes were opened to the fillers, preservatives, and enriched flours in standard grocery store foods.
Four babies and countless peanut butter & jelly sandwiches later, I went searching for something better: real, wholesome bread made the way bread was meant to be made.
That search started me on my sourdough journey.
The moment I pulled my very first loaf from the oven, I was hooked on the craft. Sourdough is living science and slow art. Requiring patience, attentiveness, and care. Soon, I was baking far more bread than our family could ever finish, so I started wrapping up warm loaves and gifting them to neighbors, friends, and family.
Watching a simple loaf of bread bring a smile to someone’s face planted a seed in my heart. After months of praying quietly, God nudged me to take a leap of faith and build a home micro-bakery. That is how Simply Joy Bread Co. was born: out of the pure joy of baking and sharing honest, nourishing bread with the community I love.
Thousands of loaves later, I am still enthralled by every single bake. Thank you for welcoming our bread into your homes and sharing in this journey with us.
We’d love to bake a loaf for your table.
Whether you stop by our booth at the Rockford Farmers Market to say hello or reserve a loaf for porch pickup, we’re honored to feed your family.
